To ensure the safety of our youngest citizens, car seats are inspected for proper installation by a Certified Passenger Safety Technician for FREE. These inspections take place at Manteno Community Fire Protection District Station #1 (13 S. Walnut St.) by appointment only. Please contact Lt. File of Life

The FILE OF LIFE Program is a nationally recognized public service program designed to assist first responders with rapid identification of person’s medical history and prescribed medications. There are no fees to participate in this program. The FILE OF LIFE is a two sided Medical Card, which is kept in a RED LABELED PLASTIC MAGNETIC POCKET. The Medical Card lists the patients name, emergency medical contacts, health problems, medications, dosages, allergies, doctor’s name, hospital, and emergency contact. The entire pocket is held, with a magnet, to the OUTSIDE of the Refrigerator. Emergency Responders who see a FILE OF LIFE Decal on the front door of a residence will look for a File of Life pocket on the Refrigerator or Bathroom mirror when responding to medical emergencies.

Block Parties/Picnics

We will visit your neighborhood block party to provide an educational presentation to both parents and children. Families are welcome to tour the vehicles after the presentation, as time allows. The firefighters are considered “in-service” during the block party and may need to leave at a moment’s notice if dispatched to an emergency call. Please give as much notice as possible to ensure our participation in your event.
Please call Chief O’Brien at 815.468.7100.
